
San Remigio, Antique – The National Irrigation Administration - Antique Irrigation Management Office (NIA-AIMO) officially turned over the Osorio Communal Irrigation System to the Osorio Irrigators Association on January 27, 2025. The turnover ceremony marked a significant milestone in ensuring sustainable irrigation services for local farmers and strengthening agricultural productivity in the province.
The event was graced by Engr. Bernard N. Castellano, Division Manager A of Antique-IMO, who led the turnover ceremony alongside key officials from the NIA Central Office – Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program-Irrigation Component (CARP-IC), Engr. Wilhelm S. Tiangco, Acting Project Manager, Engr. Alfred D. Amoloria, Manager, Engineering Division, Engr. Leah Pearl O. Santoile, Senior Engineer A, Charina Rose A. Valino, Senior Corporate Planning Specialist, Maria Renette J. Basa, Senior IDO, Chantel Dane P. Nolasco, Senior Artist Illustrator. Mrs. Anabelle Guanzon from the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Region 6 and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of San Remigio also participated in the event. Honorable Mayor Margarito Mission Jr., the Municipal Mayor of San Remigio, extended his support and gratitude for the successful completion of the project.


With the turnover of the Osorio Communal Irrigation System, farmers in the area can now benefit from improved water distribution, leading to increased crop yields and a more stable agricultural environment. The project aligns with NIA’s commitment to enhancing irrigation facilities to support the country’s food security goals. As the Osorio Irrigators Association takes over the operations and maintenance of the irrigation system, NIA and its partner agencies remain committed to providing guidance and technical assistance to ensure its long-term efficiency and sustainability. The event concluded with a ceremonial signing of documents followed by giving the Key of Responsibility, symbolizing the formal transfer of responsibility to the irrigators association.
This turnover ceremony is a reminder that through strong collaboration between government agencies, local government units, and farmers, sustainable agricultural development is not just a goal−it is a reality.
