NIA VI PAIS STRENTHENS TEAM COORDINATION THROUGH RPW AND ORIENTATION OF FOI AND CSM

NIA Region VI – Public Affairs and Information Staff (PAIS) successfully conducted its Review and Planning Workshop (RPW) and Orientation Seminar together with Regional Irrigation Manager and IT Staff on March 26, 2026, at the RIM Quarters, NIA Regional Office in Jaro, Iloilo City. The participants are all under the office of the Regional Manager Engr. Jonel B. Borres.

Ito ang naging makabuluhang mensahe ni Ms. Maida B. Mendoza, Division Manager B ng CARP-IC, NIA Central Office, sa ginanap na turnover ceremony sa Sta. Ana, Pandan, Antique noong Marso 24, 2026—isang paalala na ang bawat proyektong ipinapasa ay hindi lang basta gawain, kundi pagtitiwala sa kakayahan ng mga magsasaka na pangalagaan at paunlarin ito.

WHERE WATER FLOWS, HOPE GROWS: A NEW CHAPTER FOR BARBAZA FARMERS

On March 23, 2026, the NIA Antique IMO successfully turned over two irrigation projects in the Municipality of Barbaza, Antique.

The Barbaza FIA will benefit from the newly constructed drainage canal serving a 50-hectare service area and supporting 217 farmers. Meanwhile, the BBCM IA will benefit from the rehabilitation of an existing Terruvian intake, covering 80 hectares and serving 79 farmer-members. These projects were funded under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program – Irrigation Component (CARP-IC).

CONTINUOUS FULL SUPPORT TO LGU AND FARMERS FOR DEVOLUTION

The National Irrigation Administration Region VI (NIA VI) conducted a three-day Workshop on Operation and Maintenance for Local Government Units (LGUs), held on March 25–27, 2026, in Iloilo City. The activity was attended by LGU representatives from Antique, Negros Occidental, Iloilo, and Guimaras, along with NIA field implementers and representatives from the Regional Federation of Irrigators’ Associations.

CABANO SRIP MMT GATHERS FOR 1ST QUARTER MEETING AND PROJECT MONITORING

The Cabano Small Reservoir Irrigation Project (CSRIP)- Multipartite Monitoring Team (MMT) gathered for a meeting and monitoring for the 1st quarter of CY 2026 at the Manggadiwa Resort and Spa in Brgy. Tando, Nueva Valencia, Guimaras, on March 12–13, 2026.

To ensure conformity to environmental standards and effective implementation of the project, the activity conducted an on-site monitoring. This is also to assess the project's present status, address the outcomes of environmental monitoring, resolve forthcoming challenges and issues, and strengthen coordination with MMT members.

NIA-NOIMO EMPOWERS EMPLOYEES WITH FIRE SAFETY SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

The National Irrigation Administration – Negros Occidental Irrigation Management Office (NIA–NOIMO) conducted a Fire Drill Lecture and Fire Suppression Demonstration as part of the observance of Fire Prevention Month 2026.

The activity aims to equip the employees with skill, knowledge in fire prevention and response in case of fire.

The program included the opening message of Engr. Edna L. Señadoza, Division Manager A. The lecture and demonstration were facilitated by FO2 Micheal E. Teodosio from the Bureau of Fire Protection – Bago City.

LOOK | MANAGER IN ACTION!

NIA VI Regional Manager Engr. Jonel B. Borres visited the Bayuyan Small River Irrigation Project (SRIP) in President Roxas, Capiz on March 12, 2026.

The Bayuyan SRIP aims to serve 594 hectares of farmland and benefit 540 farmers across eight barangays in Capiz Province. The project plays a vital role in agricultural development by improving irrigation support for farmers and enhancing the productivity of their communities.

NATIONAL WOMEN'S MONTH CELEBRATION NIA AKLAN-CAPIZ IMO EMPOWERMENT DAY

In line with the celebration of National Women’s Month 2026, the National Irrigation Administration Aklan–Capiz Irrigation Management Office successfully conducted an Empowerment Day and Forum on Men and Women Health Awareness on March 11, 2026 at the ASU Review Center, Banga, Aklan.

Anchored on the theme “Lead Like the Babaylans, Filipina!”, the activity highlighted the vital role of women as leaders and change-makers in the community, inspired by the legacy of the Babaylans who once guided and influenced societal decisions.
