TURNOVER CEREMONY OF BURUANGA-HABANA COMMUNAL IRRIGATION SYSTEM

The Buruanga-Habana Communal Irrigation System, an essential infrastructure for agriculture in Buruanga, Aklan, marked a significant event with the turnover ceremony of its repaired diversion dam and siphon on September 26, 2024. The project, which included the repair of the diversion dam and a washed-out siphon, is set to benefit 297 farmer-beneficiaries, covering a service area of 259 hectares.

Engr. Raymond B. Mojares, the Division Manager of the NIA-Aklan-Capiz Irrigation Management Office, led the ceremony, alongside the Acting Punong Barangay of El Progreso, Buruanga, Aklan, Hon. Raymond Montalbo, IA President of CABHEN IA, Mr. Antonio P. Casuncad and other IA officials. Hon. Elmer P. Lumbo, Punong Barangay of Habana, Buruanga, Aklan was also present at the event and extended his message of support to the project. Local farmers and beneficiaries attended the event, expressing gratitude for the improved irrigation that will boost their agricultural productivity and secure water supply for their farms.

 

The system's rehabilitation ensures better water management, benefiting the local farming community and supporting sustainable agricultural growth.

With the irrigation system fully operational, farmers are optimistic that it will result in better crop yields and a brighter future for the farming community of Buruanga.
