STEERING THE DIRECTION: NIA VI HOSTS CLUSTER REVIEW WORKSHOP FOR THE PREPARATION OF FY 2025 BUDGET PROPOSAL

The National Irrigation Administration conducted the Cluster Review Workshop for the Preparation of FY 2025 Budget Proposal for the Visayas Cluster hosted by NIA Regional Office VI at District 21 Hotel, Atria Park District, Iloilo City from February 15-16, 2024.

The program served as an avenue for regional offices in the Visayas to present their budget proposals for CY 2025, and discuss areas for improvement. Presentations were focused on the funding of the development and rehabilitation of irrigation projects for Filipino farmers and the entire agricultural sector.

Deputy Administrator for the Administrative and Finance Sector Mr. Robert Victor G. Seares Jr. extended his warm welcome to the participants and established the ground rules for the workshop. Senior Deputy Administrator Engr. Robert C. Suguitan also shared a message to the participants where he emphasized prioritizing the needs and concerns of the farmers and grassroots level in the preparation of the CY 2025 Budget Proposal. In addition, SDA Suguitan also expressed his gratitude to the NIA Regional Office VI and Acting Regional Manager Engr. Jonel B. Borres for being on the frontline of the 1000th Regular Meeting of the Board of Directors and Budget Workshop.

Also in attendance were Deputy Administrator for Engineering and Operations Engr. Josephine B. Salazar, OIC of Corporate Planning Services Engr. Reynaldo D. Nilo, Acting Department Manager of Engineering Engr. Reyne B. Ugay, Acting Department Manager of Operations Engr. Eusebio S. Villamanto, Acting Department Manager of Financial Management Ms. Milca B. Cayanga, Acting Manager of the Administrative Department Mr. Albine Dave V. Jubilado, and Division Managers from the Engineering, Operations, Administrative, and Finance Divisions of the NIA Central Office.

 

The 2-day workshop was attended by representatives from the NIA Regional Offices in the Visayas Cluster. Acting RM and Concurrent Project Manager of JRMP2 were represented by Engr. Jonel B. Borres, Regional Manager Engr. Rory F. Avance for NIA Regional Office VII, and Regional Manager Engr. Jaime De Jesus for NIA Regional Office VIII.

Division Managers and IMO Managers of Regional Offices VII and VIII were in attendance together with their respective regional managers as well.

Understanding that increasing agricultural productivity and alleviating the farmers’ lives are the driving forces of the agency helps the management devise strategies that forward irrigation development and sustainability.
