SIPALAY-MAMBAROTO IA RECEIVES SIPALAY CIS

Engr. Isaias C. Melendez, Division Manager A of NIA – Negros Occidental IMO led the turnover ceremony of the Sipalay Communal Irrigation System for CY 2023 project under Resto and Calamity Repair Fund to Sipalay-Mambaroto Irrigators Association in Barangay Mambaroto, Sipalay City, Negros Occidental on March 21, 2024.

The Resto CIS was under the Contract and Force Account Works which completed 618m of Bench Flume, 1 unit of Road Crossing, 122.45m of Slope Protection, and 580m of Bench Flume Cover. Additionally, the Calamity Repair which was also under the Contract and Force Account Works completed the construction of the 64m Riverbank Protection, 57.55m Bench Flume Slope Protection at the Main Canal, and 21.97m Bench Flume Embankment Protection of Lat. A.

In his message, Engr. Melendez emphasized that NIA’s vision is to help farmers improve their agricultural productivity and increase their income through sustainable projects. Engr. Melendez passed the key of responsibility to the Irrigators’ Association represented by its President, Mr. Henry Cajolo.

A total of 300.53 hectares with 152 farmers will benefit from the project. Mr. Cajolo expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the NIA-NOIMO and the Local Government Unit of Sipalay City for their contributions to the successful completion of the project and encouraged his fellow rice producers to maintain the cooperation and unity within the association to maintain smooth delivery of services.

The said ceremony was attended by the Project-in-Charge Engr. Cindy F. Tubongbanua, Irrigators’ Development Officer Ms. Charity Minase, South CIS Centralizer and Supervising IDO Ms. Florence Grace V. Acebedo, Punong Barangay of Mambaroto Hon. Yolando Castro, representative of Sipalay City Agriculture Office Mr. Ryan Villanueva, and members of Mambaroto Sipalay IA, Inc.
