ROOTED IN SUSTAINABILITY: ANTIQUE IMO PLANTS FOR TOMORROW

In celebration of the 62nd Founding Anniversary of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA), the Antique Irrigation Management Office (IMO) participated in the Simultaneous Tree Planting Activity held on July 4, 2025, in Barangay Salvacion, Sibalom, Antique. The initiative underscores NIA’s ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability and active community involvement.

The event began with a lively Zumba session, allowing participants to warm up before embarking on the day’s environmental activity. A brief program followed, during which Punong Barangay Joseph Narciso warmly welcomed everyone and expressed his heartfelt gratitude. “Ako, kaimaw kang bug-os nga pumuluyo kang Barangay Salvacion, nagapasalamat gid sa pagpili kang Antique IMO sa amon barangay bilang lugar para sa dya nga aktibidad. Bahul gid ang amon suporta sa pagpananom kang mga kahoy, hay naman-an namon nga isara dya ka oportunidad agud maprotektahan ang aton dunang manggad.”

Engr. Bernard N. Castellano, Division Manager A, echoed this sentiment, saying: “This initiative is more than just planting trees today—it’s about protecting our environment for generations to come. Let us continue to work together to build a greener, more sustainable future.”

A total of 300 seedlings—including cashew, rambutan, jackfruit, and mango—were planted across two hectares of land. This effort not only enhances the local ecosystem but also supports long-term environmental sustainability and watershed protection, both essential for strengthening irrigation systems and reducing climate-related risks.
