NIA Region VI farmers and members of Irrigators’ Association donned their best modern Filipiniana attires to receive recognition for their outstanding efforts and performance for CY 2023.
The Gabi ng Parangal was one of the events during the Farmers’ Summit 2023, an event organized by the NIA Regional Office VI – Institutional Development Section (IDS), headed by Community Relations Chief B, Joy A. Babiera through the supervision of Acting Regional Manager, Engr. Jonel B. Borres, specifically to highlight the partnership of the NIA and Irrigators’ Associations (IA) towards agricultural development.
The Confederation of Irrigators’ Associations of Region VI, headed by its President Mr. Joseph Amponin, together with the officers, members, and Board of Trustees (BOT) in cooperation with NIA Region VI came up with the Gabi ng Parangal to honor the farmer-irrigators who serve with utmost selflessness in order to ensure food security in their respective provinces and the country as a whole.
The IA’s were awarded through different categories that were set by the IDS. Their performance were measured as well as their financial management to see if they are effectively utilizing the support and benefits they receive from other government agencies and private organizations. On top of that, the IA members also showcased their talents through the “Pagpasundayag” event where each province competed in Binalaybay, Komposo, On-the-spot Poster Making, and Dance Sports Competition.

Selfless, Industrious, Innovative, and Talented; these are just some of the words to best describe the farmers of Region VI. Although there is not enough recognition to fully honor the efforts of the farmers, let us not forget to give them thanks as we partake our daily meals. These modern-day heroes deserve the most extravagant recognition; they, who have incessantly given their sweat, blood, and tears to dedicate their whole lives to farming to ensure that the country eats.
