PRE-CONSTRUCTION CONFERENCE: RESTORING THE MAAYON COMMUNAL IRRIGATION SYSTEM'S BENCH FLUME

The Maayon Communal Irrigation System (CIS), which serves as an essential irrigation structure in the field of agriculture in the area of Maayon, Capiz, requires to be restored to ensure uninterrupted flow of water to farmlands.

A Pre-construction Conference was conducted last April 16, 2024, at the Brgy. Hall of Brgy. Piña, Maayon, Capiz, with the full support of the Aklan-Capiz IMO’s Division Manager, Engr. Raymond B. Mojares. The activity was attended by the Mayor of the Municipality of Maayon in Capiz, Hon. Raymond D. Malapajo, barangay officials of Brgy. Piña, headed by PB Ricky D. Aurelia, Ma-Pa Farmers IA, Inc. officials led by the IA President, Mr. Ramon D. Fuentes, and the staff from NIA-ACIMO.

NIA's Engineers, community leaders, and officials from the association gathered on a collaborative platform with the same goal: restoring Maayon's agricultural situation. Through a 350-meter canal benefitting 860 farmer-beneficiaries in a 40 hectares of farmland.

The conference became a venue to discuss the agenda that aims to address particular aspects of the restoration work: project overview, technical considerations, Right-of-Way matters, the importance of NIA-LGU-IA coordination, and other matters discussed during the activity.

The restoration of the Maayon CIS's bench flume is greater than mere infrastructure; it is a tribute to the unwavering spirit of partnership and management, paving the way for a future that is profitable and sustainable for Maayon, Capiz.
