The Regional Manager A of the National Irrigation Administration Region VI, Engr. Rory F. Avance paid a courtesy call to Hon. Samuel T. Gumarin, Governor of the province of Guimaras on February 17, 2022 in preparation for the groundbreaking of Cabano Small Reservoir Irrigation Project (SRIP) located in Brgy. Aguilar, San Lorenzo, Guimaras.
With Engr. Randy C. Alipis, Division Manager A of NIA-Iloilo-Guimaras Irrigation Management Office (IGIMO), Engr. Avance updated Gov. Gumarin on the status of the proposed Cabano Small Reservoir Irrigation Project (SRIP) to be implemented this 2022.
The groundbreaking of the first earth-fill dam of the province this coming March 2022 was discussed in the courtesy call. The P545, 398,633.78 Cabano Earthfill Dam with its appurtenant structures aims to irrigate a total service area of 861 hectares benefiting 1,304 farmers and their families.
According to Gov. Gumarin, the provincial government extends their cooperation to all NIA projects for the Guimaras farmers. Engr. Avance is grateful for the partnership that the agency and the provincial government has forged in increasing the irrigated areas, which contributes to agricultural productivity in the province of Guimaras.
