PRE-CONSTRUCTION CONFERENCES FOR PUMP IRRIGATION PROJECTS FOR NEGROS OCCIDENTAL IMO

As part of the preparatory phase for 12 Pump Irrigation Projects (PIPs) in Negros Occidental, the National Irrigation Administration Negros Occidental Irrigation Management Office (NOIMO), led by its Acting Division Manager Engr. Edna L. Señadoza, conducted a series of Pre-Construction Conferences to align stakeholders, discuss implementation plans, and ensure community support.

On May 30, 2025, a Pre-Construction Conference was held for the Cabanbanan Pump Irrigation Project at Brgy. Cabanbanan, Himamaylan City. The event was attended by members of the Cabanbanan Kabsaka Farmers Association, representatives from the Local Government Unit (LGU), Construction Head Engr. Cindy F. Tubongbanua, and Project-in-Charge Engr. Christian John E. Magbanua.

On June 3, 2025, a joint Pre-Construction Conference for the Camansi PIP and Candumarao PIP was conducted at Brgy.Candumarao, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental. The activity was supported by the Barangay Local Government Units (BLGUs) of Brgy. Candumarao and Brgy. Calapi, represented by their respective Punong Barangays, Hon. Evelyn C. Nueva España and Hon. Ramy L. Mesicula. Also in attendance were Municipal Agriculturist Ms. Grace D. Ariola and Municipal Engineer Engr. Jomarie G. Magbanua, who shared insights from his experience in water system and expressed his gratitude for the project—particularly in Hinigaran, one of the municipalities where feasible water sources for a diversion type irrigation system are limited.

On the same day, a separate Pre-Construction Conference was held for the Cambarus PIP at Brgy. Cambarus, Pontevedra, Negros Occidental. The conference was attended by members of the Cambarus Small Water Irrigation System Association (CAMSWISA) and BLGU officials led by Punong Barangay Hon. Zoilo Magbanua. The Camansi, Candumarao, and Cambarus PIPs will be implemented with Engr. Mia Arielle L. Magbanua as Project in charge.

All Pre-Construction Conferences were also attended by Superb 711 Engineering and Construction representative Engr. Jinky Coching, the contractor for the Pump Irrigation Projects under the NOIMO.

The Pump Irrigation Projects are expected to irrigate an aggregate area of 180 hectares, bringing sustainable water access to present rain-dependent farms.
