The National Irrigation Administration Aklan-Capiz Irrigation Management Office (NIA-ACIMO), led by Division Manager Engr. Raymond B. Mojares spearheaded the sale of Bagong Bayaning Magsasaka (BBM) rice in the provinces of Aklan and Capiz.
On November 4, 2024, NIA-ACIMO’s Aklan office in Linabuan Sur, Banga, Aklan, held an event, showcasing the first distribution of affordable rice. On the other hand, the same activity was conducted on November 5, 2024, at the Capiz office in Mambusao, Capiz. The events were met with positive feedback from the local community and government officials who recognized the initiative’s potential to ease the financial challenges on Filipino families in the region.
The BBM Rice will prioritize vulnerable groups (Senior Citizens, Persons with Disability (PWD), 4Ps Beneficiaries, and Solo Parents) and will be sold at the NIA-ACIMO offices in Aklan and Capiz for the low price of Php 29 per kilo.
The Bagong Bayaning Magsasaka program underscores NIA-ACIMO’s commitment to providing more affordable options for the community while supporting local farmers. The rice, dubbed murang bigas, will continue to be available at the Aklan and Capiz NIA-ACIMO offices, serving as accessible distribution points for residents seeking quality rice at a lower price.
