BAROTAC VIEJO AND SAN RAFAEL IAS RECEIVE IRRIGATION PROJECTS

On August 14, 2024, Irrigators' Associations in the municipalities of Barotac Viejo and San Rafael received irrigation projects from the National Irrigation Administration through a turn-over ceremony held at the Gymnasium of Brgy. San Antonio, Barotac Viejo, Iloilo.

Mr. Rudy D. Engada, President of Barangay Dela Peña Farmers Communal IA, Inc.; Mr. Sulpidio Tedios, President of Agtaracan San Antonio Communal IA, Inc.; Mr. Avelino Bamo, President of San Rafael-Cabas-an Communal IA, Inc.; Mr. Ney V. Barro, President of Lipata Barotac Viejo IA, Inc.; and Mr. Gerry Bañas, President of Hinay-an IA, Inc. expressed their gratitude to NIA as they signed the turn-over documents and received the keys of responsibility for various irrigation projects from the NIA-Iloilo-Guimaras Irrigation Management Office headed by Engr. Randy C. Alipis, Division Manager.

Projects include the construction of canal structures, slope protection, and repair of diversion dam, which aim to improve agricultural production for 357 farmers of 439.75 hectares of agricultural land in the municipality of Barotac Viejo, and for 70 farmers cultivating 58 hectares of land in the municipality of San Rafael, Iloilo.

 

Also present were partners from the local government units, and other government agencies: Engr. Harry Tupas, representative from the Office of the Congressman of the 5th District of Iloilo; Atty. Jeyan Chin, Municipal Legal Counsel of Barotac Viejo; Ms. Doana Grace Pamillo, from the Department of Agriculture; Mr. Ronald Barrameda, Municipal Administrator of Barotac Viejo, and the Barangay Council of Barangay San Antonio led by Brgy Captain Hon. Rosene Mesa, who witnessed the ceremony.
