The NIA Regional Office VI under the leadership of Acting Regional Manager Engr. Jonel B. Borres, through its IDS Team headed by Community Relations Chief B Ms. Joy A. Babiera together with Supervising IDO Ms. Zoraida Seria and Senior IDO Mr. John Raffy Hilario conducted a region-wide inspection and status evaluation of IA Model Farms.
With the support of NIA-NOIMO’s Acting Division Manager Engr. Edna L. Señadoza, the Bungahin Irrigators’ Association, Inc. IA Model Farm located at Brgy. Odiong, Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental proved to remain strong and productive since its construction in the year 2022. The IA Model Farm was implemented through force account works under the supervision of Engr. Mark Ian A. Olimpo of NOIMO. The solar-powered drip irrigation greenhouse remained operational and functional, also providing solar powered electricity for the IA Office. The inspection was assisted by Ms. Rhyn Flordeliz, assigned IDO of NOIMO.
The Model farm produces cauliflower, broccoli, and pechay, which they sell in the Food Terminal managed by the IA. Additionally, their harvest is also shared in the community and the local church. The Bungahin IA aims to improve their skills through planting high-value crops and effective utilization of drip irrigation for a much more bountiful production.
