LIVELIHOOD ASSISTANCE BOOSTS FARMERS WITH FERTILIZER DISTRIBUTION

A Turnover Ceremony for IA Livelihood Assistance took place on May 16, 2024, at the NIA-WMT District 3 in Sibalom, Antique. This significant event was graced by several distinguished guests, including DOLE Representative Ms. Virgie Liza Mellendez, Sibalom Mayor Hon. Gian Carlo F. Occeña, Antique IMO Acting Division Manager Engr. Bernard N. Castellano, and the Congressman for the Lone District of Antique, Hon. Antonio “AA” Legarda, Jr.

During the ceremony, a total of 1,300 bags of fertilizer were distributed to 150 farmer beneficiaries from the 10 NIS Irrigators Associations. This initiative, amounting to 2 million pesos in livelihood assistance, was a collaborative effort between the office of Congressman Legarda, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), and the Antique Development Foundation. The assistance aims to support and enhance agricultural productivity among local farmers.

The event underscores the commitment of local government officials, development organizations and NIA to uplift the agricultural sector in Antique. It also reflects a broader strategy to ensure food security and improve the livelihoods of farmers through targeted assistance and sustainable development programs.
