
Engr. Raymond B. Mojares, Acting Division Manager of the NIA Aklan-Capiz IMO, led the successful completion and turnover of the Tamalagon Pump Irrigation Project (PIP) to the management of the Tamalagon Farmers’ Association (FA) in Brgy. Tamalagon, Tangalan, Aklan on December 12, 2023.
The farmers were represented by their Association’s President, Hon. Glenn C. Tabang. The turnover ceremony was graced by the Municipal Agriculturist of Tangalan Ms. Karol Kay T. Amacio, Punong Barangay of Brgy. Tamalagon Hon. Eugene Goboy, FA’s Construction Committee Chairman Mr. Nick Teofilo, Farmers’ Association officers, and NIA-ACIMO staff (IDOs and PIC), who worked hard and closely monitored the completion of the project.
Engr. Mojares led the signing of the turnover documents, gave a speech, and passed the key of responsibility to Hon. Tabang. The latter accepted the key responsibilities and the Farmers’ Association received the physical and financial accomplishment of the project which was manifested through their resolution last November 23, 2023.
The 5-million project includes a 1-unit solar pump with solar panels, a 1-unit pump house and its 954-meter canal structures. It is expected to benefit 20 hectares of farmland for the 29 farmer-beneficiaries.
The Tamalagon Pump Irrigation Project’s turnover is a product of joint efforts, technological innovation, and a shared goal for a more abundant and sustainable future. The project shows the beneficial influence that strategic infrastructure development can have on agricultural regions.
