NIA VI'S ACQUISITION MILESTONE: 4 LAND TITLES, 12 CERTIFICATES OF REDEMPTION TURNED OVER TO NIA

December 7, 2023 – In a Ceremonial Turnover of Titles for Regional Office VI and Irrigation Management Offices cum Orientation Workshop on Recovery of Real Properties led by National Irrigation Administration VI Acting Regional Manager, Engr. Jonel B. Borres at the NIA Region VI Office; four (4) land titles and twelve (12) Certificates of Redemption were turned over to the NIA Central Office.

The recovery and titling of NIA assets and properties is the thrust of NIA Administrator Engr. Eduardo Eddie G. Guillen; establishing the Asset Recovery Management Office (ARMO) under the Office of the Sr. Deputy Administrator (OSDA) at the NIA Central Office to monitor, guide, and provide direction, guided by the provisions of Republic Act 10752: The Right of Way Act, for Regional Offices nationwide on the recovering, securing, and titling of assets belonging to the agency, prioritizing the recovery of office buildings and structures as its first step.

Engr. Jerome Osias, Acting Division Manager of ARMO-OSDA attended the event online with Mr. Jose Collantes, Jr., while other ARMO-OSDA representatives, Mr. Emiliano G. Romena, Jr. and Ms. Janna Krista G. Gregorio, personally attended and received the land titles at the Regional Office VI.

On top of the four (4) land titles, NIA VI was also able to acquire from the City of Iloilo twelve (12) Certificates of Redemption of real property for office buildings and residential buildings (dormitory, staff houses, cafeteria, powerhouse, etc.).

Acting Regional Manager Engr. Borres stated that the office’s recovery of assets is considered one of the most crucial tasks that the NIA VI must undertake to ensure that the assets and properties of the agency are protected. He also assured the ARMO that the office will work harder to secure more agency assets of the region soon.

ARMO Acting Department Manager Engr. Jerome Osias congratulated NIA VI on its asset recovery efforts in line with the program of the Administrator. The recovery of properties and office buildings is just one of the first steps of the agency, and it will eventually secure all properties nationwide; canals and irrigation right of way as the next priority.

Participants from NIA VI Irrigation Management Offices (IMOs) from the provinces of Aklan, Capiz, Antique, Negros Occidental, Iloilo, and Guimaras were present to witness the event. ARMO representatives also gave an orientation on the Modes of Acquiring Real Property Under Republic Act No. 10752, the Procedure of Right of Way (ROW) / Real Property Acquisition and Titling, as well as the required forms necessary for processing.
