Thousands of Christmas lights flooded the NIA Regional Office VI compound as the office held its annual Opening of Lights Ceremony on the night of December 4, 2023.
With the support from the management to usher in the Christmas Spirit, Regional Office VI and Iloilo-Guimaras Irrigation Management Office (IGIMO), backed by the assistance from the Division Managers of Aklan-Capiz IMO (ACIMO), Antique IMO (AIMO), and Negros Occidental IMO (NOIMO), set up a grandiose display of lights and decorations within the office compound.
Acting Regional Manager Engr. Jonel B. Borres emphasized that light is a symbol of hope. He encouraged the NIAns to be the light to the farmers: a beacon to guide and help them improve their lives.
The simple celebration included the pressing of the button, triggering the colorful array of lights. A fire dancer, sponsored by IGIMO, also entertained the employees, bringing a prequel to the display of lights that was about to follow. Fireworks ensued as employees admired the wonderful glow that signifies the official arrival of the Christmas Season in the agency.

IGIMO Division Manager, Engr. Randy Alipis; ACIMO Division Manager, Engr. Raymond Mojares; AIMO Division Manager, Engr. Bernard Castellano; and NOIMO Division Manager, Engr. Isaias Melendez; together with Engineering and Operations Division Manager, Engr. Robertino Lapeña; Administrative and Finance Division Manager, Lyn Grace Causing; and Regional Office and IGIMO Section Chiefs attended the yearly occasion.
A special video presentation likened to a multimedia station ID, was prepared by the PR Team, showing an amalgamation of clips from different offices regionwide, displaying their interpretation of a joyous Christmas season among the employees to the tune of Kasanag sa Kadulom; an Ilonggo Christmas song.
Administrative and Finance Division led the preparations through the commendable efforts of the Property and Procurement Unit of the Administrative Section headed by Ms. Maritess M. Bolinas, the talented designers and decorators from the Planning and Design Section, the facilities/utilities team, IGIMO staff, and all other employees who helped put up the displays, technical and sounds, as well as food.
Celebrations such as this is only a testament that Christmas is one of the spirit-filled occasions that brings everyone together. The lights and displays will be turned on every nightfall until 10:00PM to allow the people of the surrounding community to visit and admire.
