DESIGN AND SPECIFICATIONS INSIGHT: UNVEILING THE BAYUYAN SRIP

On November 28, 2023, Acting Department Manager of NIA Central Office Engineering Department Engr. Reyne B. Ugay and other personnel from the NIA-Central Office, together with Project Resident Engineer Jar-R Agustin were at the forefront of the project inspection for the Bayuyan Small Reservoir Irrigation Project (BSRIP) in the Municipality of President Roxas and NIA’s biggest project in the Province of Capiz.

The inspection focused on evaluating adherence to design requirements and quality standards across all project phases. Engr. Ugay ensured that the construction activities were aligned with approved plans and complied with regulatory requirements. He also emphasized the areas that need to be prioritized to expedite the project construction.

Bayuyan SRIP is currently under the leadership of Acting Regional Manager Engr. Jonel B. Borres, Acting Division Manager of Aklan-Capiz IMO, Engr. Raymond B. Mojares, along with the supervision of Engr. Jar-R Agustin as the Project Resident Engineer, and other field task force members to ensure the proper implementation of the project by overseeing and monitoring the Contractor’s ongoing works, such as:

B. Clearing and Grubbing

C. Diversion and Care of River during Construction and Unwatering Foundation

D. Dam Area

1) Common & Rock Excavation and Foundation Preparation

2) Drilling and Grouting

a. Drilling (Non-Core)

b. Installation of Standpipes

c. Pressure Grouting

E. Spillway Area

1) Common & Rock Excavation and Foundation Preparation

F. Outlet Works (Irrigation and Diversion Conduit)

1) Common & Rock Excavation and Foundation Preparation

2) Concrete Structures

3) Installation of Reinforcing Steel Bars

4) Lean Concrete

5) Concrete Joints and Joint Materials

a. Installation of PVC waterstop

G. Access/Service Road

1) Clearing and Grubbing

2) Mechanized Structures Excavation (Common)

Driven to cope with the project’s target accomplishments, which currently stand at 6.73%, Acting Regional Manager Engr. Borres, Engr. Mojares, and Engr. Agustin are actively monitoring the operations and construction as the project is expected to be completed by December 2025.
