
In the recent event organized by NIA-Antique Irrigation Management Office called "BuyANIhan Market" or "Kadiwa sa NIA," the community came together to celebrate local farmers and emphasize the importance of supporting local businesses last October 17, 2023. The event was more than just a market; it was a testament to the resilience and spirit of the farmers and Antique IMO’s commitment to building a thriving, and self-reliant community.
The day began with a unifying prayer, setting a tone of unity and shared purpose. Engr. Bernard N. Castellano, Acting Division Manager of Antique IMO, delivered a warm welcome, underlining the significance of supporting local businesses. He expressed the NIA's commitment to connecting local farmers directly to consumers. This commitment is a response to the challenge and encouragement from NIA offices to create activities that bridge the gap between local producers and customers.
Ms. Joy A. Babiera, CRC B, in her message, emphasized that the event was not just the Kadiwa of NIA but the joint effort of NIA and IAs. She highlighted the careful monitoring of the event by NIA Acting Administrator, Engr. Eduardo G. Guillen who is dedicated to helping farmers market their produce. This collaboration between NIA and IAs reflects a shared goal of supporting farmers and building a sustainable livelihood.




Mr. Silvino H. Zapanza, Jr., FAIA-NIS President, further stressed the role of community events like the "BuyANIhan Market" in building strong communities and sustainable livelihoods. These events not only boost the local economy but also foster a sense of togetherness and mutual support within the community.
The grand opening of the market was a highlight, showcasing an array of local produce and artisanal goods. The event garnered strong support from various groups, including NIA Personnel, CAMAST IA, SBFIA, SIHAMSA South IA and KAMAPAT. Their presence showcased the collective commitment to local businesses and community strengthening.
