On April 20, 2023, a System Management Committee (SMC) Meeting was held at the Executive Hall, Municipality of Pavia, Iloilo, by the Aganan-Sta. Barbara and Sibalom River Irrigation Systems (RIS) of the National Irrigation Administration- Iloilo-Guimaras Irrigation Management Office (NIA-IGIMO).
The SMC meeting tackled the Operation & Maintenance (O&M) of the 3 RIS for their End-Season Evaluation for Dry 2023 & Planning for Wet 2023. O&M conferences are held before the start of each cropping season to discuss O&M plans of each RIS and in partnership with Irrigator’s Associations and other partner agencies as well as LGUs to address strategies and initiatives for farmers as they prepare for the upcoming wet crop season in 2023.
Engr. Randy C. Alipis, Division Manager A of the NIA-IGIMO attended the SMC meeting along with the key personnel for the operation and maintenance of the NIS.
Other participants in the meeting were partners from the local government units, Honorable Mayor Laurence Anthony G. Gorriceta, Sangguniang Bayan Member Roy Gorriceta with Mr. Phil Roland A. Cabrera, the Officer-in-Charge of Municipal Agricultures Office and Ms. Mabel E. Paches, the Municipal Planning and Development Officer from the municipality of Pavia; Mr. Snorkyl C. Cabristante, Agriculture Technician of the municipality of Leon, Mr. Alfredo Sulit, OIC-Municipal Agricultures Office of the municipality of Santa Barbara, and the Irrigator’s Association Officers headed by their IA presidents namely Abdolia Belga of San Jose-Sto. Nino IA Inc., Rosalina Verde of SAMICASA IA, Inc., Estrella Cabalar of MACATU-AN IA, Inc., Diosalie Cinco of MACABITU IA, Inc., Floro Taton of STABB IA, Inc., Amado Robles of SALAMBITU IA, Inc., Eduardo Alcasarin of PALACATI-AN IA, Inc., Julieta Velete of CABUGLASAN IA, Inc., Alexander Robles of LACAGBUN IA, Inc., Celso Villalobos Jr. of LACASAN IA, Inc., Ruby Vallejo of NAGUAGUI IA, Inc., Neri Cantallopez of ANOCA IA, Inc., Joel Jalbua of BAROCA IA, Inc., Reymon Gayapa of BOCABI IA, Inc., and Remelito Sealongo of BIBANA IA, Inc.
The representatives from different partner agencies- the Department of Agriculture, the Landbank of the Philippines, the National Food Authority, and the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation also graced the event.
