NIA VI CONTRACTOR SIGN CONTRACT FOR PRBIDP ACCESS ROAD AND DRAINANGE STRUCTURES

January 31, 2024 – NIA Region VI being led by Acting Regional Manager Engr. Jonel B. Borres together with Engineering and Operations Division Manager Engr. Robertino O. Lapeña, Administrative and Finance Division Manager Ms. Lyn Grace B. Causing, and Aklan-Capiz IMO Division Manager Engr. Raymond B. Mojares officially signed the project contract for Panay River Basin Integrated Development Project (PRBIDP) Access Road, Drainage Canal, and Drainage Structures with winning contractor Iloilo Grand Emperor Builders Corporation represented by its Authorized Managing Officer, Mr. Cyril Hanson Liao Cembrano.

The project is part of the ongoing construction of the PRBIDP office in Tapaz, Capiz. PRBIDP is currently in its Detailed Engineering Design phase. Once implemented, it shall be the biggest irrigation development project in Western Visayas, which includes the construction of a 102-meter reservoir dam, 34-meter afterbay dam, 158.3 km long highline canals, 320 km service roads, and other appurtenant structures.

PRBIDP is seen to provide year-round irrigation water to 26,800 hectares of farmlands benefitting 25,046 farmers. Apart from irrigation benefits, the project shall also augment 18.42 Megawatts of hydroelectric power and allocate 3 cubic meters per second of bulk water to Roxas City and other municipalities in Capiz. The project’s floodway component shall significantly reduce flooding in the province.
