NIA VI CONDUCTS INTERAGENCY MEETING FOR THE ACTUALIZATION OF PRBIDP

The National Irrigation Administration Regional Office VI led by Acting Regional Manager, Engr. Jonel B. Borres conducted an Interagency coordination meeting with partner agencies to validate the existing data and fast-track documentary requirements for the pre-construction activities of the Panay River Basin Integrated Development Project (PRBIDP).

Held at the NIA Regional Office VI Conference Room earlier today, September 5, 2024, the meeting was attended by Regional Director Raul Fernandez of the Office of Civil Defense VI, and key personnel from Department of Agrarian Reform VI, Department of Environment and Natural Resources VI, Protected Area Management Board, Capiz Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (CaPENRO), National Commission on Indigenous Peoples VI, Philippine Army, JRMPII, Aklan-Capiz IMO, and NIA VI.

 

The meeting addressed essential points of discussion targeted at validating final maps, delineation of project-affected areas, and flooding history in the province of Capiz which are all crucial in the project implementation. Partner agencies and the NIA VI concluded the meeting with commitments along with a definite timeline of delivery of significant documents to ensure efficient collaboration.

Acting Regional Manager Engr. Borres emphasized the importance of synergy in every project and development. He also expressed his gratitude to the partner agencies for attending the meeting and collaborating with the NIA to actualize the PRBIDP.

As of July 31, 2024, the Feasibility Study and Detailed Engineering Design of PRBIDP is at 91.18% and undergoing the final stages. Once completed, this project shall be a game changer in the province of Capiz. Not only will it address the need for irrigation water and improve agricultural production, it will also help mitigate flooding in the province.
