The National Irrigation Administration (NIA)-Iloilo-Guimaras IMO held the Barotac Viejo Irrigators’ Association (IA) Congress at the Melberto's Restaurant in the municipality of Barotac Viejo, Iloilo on December 14, 2023. The office witnessed the notable participation and presence of various members of the eight Irrigators Associations headed by Federation of IA President Ms. Yancy B. Espinosa; Local Government Unit of Barotac Viejo in the presence of Mayor Nielo “Bongbong” C. Tupas; Chief of Staff of 5th District Representative Atty. Brian Cerebo; Agricultural Technician of the Municipality of Banate Mr. Stanley Galvez; Senior Grains Operation Officer of the National Food Authority Mr. Melvin Boquerin; and partners from the Landbank of the Philippines Mr. Jason Lemeric.
Engr. Randy C. Alipis, Division Manager A of NIA-IGIMO saw the active involvement of the members of the IA in their efforts to advance irrigation and agricultural practices. He hoped for a continuous partnership with farmers, with NIA and IA working together to make the agency’s objective a reality.
Additionally, stakeholders from other government agencies contribute to various exchanges of ideas and perspectives. This collective presence highlighted a shared dedication to the sustainable development of irrigation infrastructure and agricultural initiatives, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing challenges and development of the Filipino farmers.
