In the pursuit of uplifting the quality of life of the farmers, the National Irrigation Administration Iloilo-Guimaras Irrigation Management Office (NIA-IGIMO) successfully launched the Contract Farming program in the province of Iloilo. The event, held at the Wellness Center, West Visayas State University, Pototan, Iloilo on June 6, 2024, gathered twenty-one (21) Irrigator's Associations (IAs) to sign the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for this farming support initiative.
Through the MOA signing, the NIA and the IAs formalized their partnership for the program's implementation. This program of the NIA under the leadership of Engr. Eduardo Eddie G. Guillen, offers farming support to participating farmers, including farm inputs and cash assistance provided through the IAs. The cash assistance can be used for expenses such as machinery rentals, land preparations, and harvesting.
In his message, Engr. Randy C. Alipis, Division Manager A of NIA-IGIMO expressed his appreciation to the farmers who will avail the program and the partner agencies and Local Government Units who showed their support. He said that the success of this program depends on everyone involved. Therefore, he encouraged better partnerships to achieve the common goal of increasing farmer production and easing their burden in feeding the nation.

Partners from Local Government Units, Hon. Rafael Enrique P. Lazaro, Mayor of the municipality of Pototan, Mr. Ian S. Calibara from the Department of Agriculture, Ms. Hannah S. Adeja from the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation, and Mr. Philip Cesar Rumbaoa from the National Food Authority were also in attendance and pledged their support to ensure that the IAs receive the necessary assistance for the success of the program implementation.
