Irrigators’ Associations in the Municipalities of San Lorenzo and Buenavista province of Guimaras renewed their commitment in irrigation management through the signing of Irrigation Management Transfer (IMT) contract with the National Irrigation Administration held at BFAR Office, Brgy. San Miguel, Jordan, Guimaras on May 9, 2024.
This IMT program promotes the sense of ownership through the implementation of fair sharing of burdens and benefits from among the bonafide and capable Irrigators’ Association in managing the operation and maintenance of their irrigation system.
The contract was signed by the Cabano Barangay Irrigator’s Development Association Inc. represented by their IA President, Mr. Elpedio G. Yanson, Ms. Lina T. Espinosa of Sitio Miagos M. Chavez IA, Inc., Ms. Anita G. Vargas of BATUM (Banaba-Tumanda) IA Inc., Mr. Julius Cabaling of Sitio Badyang Igcawayan IA Inc., Mr. Rino D. Dicen of Navalas Buenavista IA Inc. and Engr. Randy C. Alipis, Division Manager A of NIA-Iloilo-Guimaras Irrigation Management Office.
The signing of the contract was held alongside the conduct of Irrigators’ Association Coordinating Council (IACC) Meeting with the attendance of Hon. Jimmy G. Gallego, Sangguniang Bayan Member/ Chairman on Agriculture of the Municipality of San Lorenzo, with him is their Municipal Agriculturist, Ms. Caroline S. Brasileño.
