The Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) Convergence Team in the province of Aklan met for the 2nd Quarter Meeting on June 27, 2022 at ACIMO Conference Room, Linabuan Sur, Banga, Aklan.
The team is composed of the National Irrigation Administration Aklan-Capiz Irrigation Management Office and different agencies such as the Department of Agriculture, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Landbank of the Philippines, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), National Food Authority (NFA) and Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR)
The Aklan League of Federation of Irrigators Association (ALFIA) is one of the community-based organizations (CBO) chosen to be a beneficiary of the program. Each government agency showed its support and gave updates on its programs that could help the ALFIA.
Mr. Leonard Salonga, Sr. IDO from NIA Regional Office VI gave an orientation to the participants on the importance of the program to the government, as well as the community.
The goal of the program is to alleviate hunger and poverty in the country by buying the products of the CBOs and feeding them to the needy through the cohesive partnership of agencies. Through the help of TESDA and Agricultural Training Institute, the IAs could avail of the training they can provide in order to gain knowledge and skills in value-adding other commodities to avoid the decomposition of raw food.
Marketing Agreements were already penned between ALFIA and NFA on palay procurement and delivery. The Provincial Government of Aklan and Aklan League of Irrigators Marketing Cooperative also signed a marketing agreement on the province’s Grain Center.
“We are looking forward nga ang EPAHP makabulig gid sa aton…kay ini para gid sa aton mga mangunguma kag CBOs,” Engr. Julieta E. Gallardo, Sr. Engineer A, said.
