Dumiles Farmers Receive Solar Pump Project

The Dumiles Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Association (DARBA) officially received the key of responsibility of the Dumiles Solar Pump Irrigation Project (SPIP) during the turnover ceremony held in Brgy. Dumiles, San Enrique, Iloilo on March 25, 2024.

The DARBA, led by their President Mr. Tommy P. Doborbor, expressed their grateful appreciation to the National Irrigation Administration and the Department of Agrarian Reform for choosing them as the beneficiary of the project. The project will benefit 10 farmers with a total of 10 hectares of land. Mr. Doborbor is confident that the project will continue to unite the DARBA members and believes that the sufficient water supply from the solar pump will make them less vulnerable to the effects of El Nino.

The SPIP funded by the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program-Irrigation Component (CARP-IC) is an innovative irrigation technology envisioned by the NIA, under the leadership of Administrator Engr. Eduardo Eddie G. Guillen, which shall help increase cropping intensity through reliable water supply, especially during the dry season. Engr. Randy C. Alipis, Division Manager A of NIA-Iloilo-Guimaras IMO emphasized that NIA prioritizes the increase in the agricultural production of farmers through sustainable water supply, hence members of the association must use and maintain the project effectively.

 

Also, present during the turnover were staff from the NIA Regional Office VI led by Engr. Peter Renier A Darroca, Principal Engineer C and head of the Equipment Management Section; Engr. Jessa A. Resol, Principal Engineer C of the NIA VI Planning and Design Section; key personnel from the NIA-IGIMO; Ms. Liezl G. Jarangue, NIA IGIMO Supervising IDO; Presidential Agrarian Reform Coordinating Committee-Iloilo Chairperson, Ms. Lynie Valencia; Provincial Agrarian Reform Officer II of DAR Iloilo, Ms. Harriet A. Loot; Municipal Agrarian Reform Officer of San Enrique, Ms. Delta V. Griengo; Mr. Elmar Patubo, Barangay Agrarian Reform Officer; Mr. Jaymark Tesoro, representative of the project contractor; Barangay Council of Dumiles headed by Brgy. Captain Maricar Orteguia; and the members of the DARBA.
