On March 7, 2024, with the aim to provide an immediate response to the victims of a residential fire that raged in Zone 1, Brgy. Old Airport, Mandurriao, Iloilo in the early morning of March 5, 2024, the Irrigators’ Associations of the provinces of Iloilo and Guimaras partnered with the National Irrigation Administration Regional Office VI to extend help.
Led by Mr. Alexander Robles, IA Federation President of Tigum-River Federation of IAs, and Mr. Floro Taton, Federation Vice President of the Aganan River Federation of IAs, together with the NIA-Iloilo-Guimaras IMO under the leadership of Engr. Randy C. Alipis, Division Manager A, (represented by Ms. Leizl G. Jarangue, Supervising Institutional Development Officer), a total of 485 kilos of rice were successfully distributed to 292 victims. The gift-giving activity was held at Mandurriao Elementary School.
Hon. Jose Benjie Macailing, Punong Barangay of Old Airport, expressed gratitude for the gesture of IA and NIA in helping his people in this time of sadness.
This act of kindness follows the IA's previous support for the community, as shown by their rice distribution in Barotac Viejo on December 28, 2023.
