As part of the National Irrigation Administration’s transition plan for the implementation of Executive Order 138 on the full devolution of certain functions of the executive branch to local governments, five (5) Communal Irrigation Systems were successfully turned over to the municipalities of Nueva Valencia and Jordan in the province of Guimaras on December 12, 2022.
Balcon Melliza CIS and Buluangan CIS in Jordan; and Igdarapdap CIS, Sto. Domingo CIS and San Antonio CIS in Nueva Valencia were the CISs being handed over to the LGU for monitoring and supervision.
A tripartite Memorandum of Agreement between the NIA, LGU, and IA was also signed during this event, through Division Manager A Engr. Randy C. Alipis, Irrigator’s Associations represented by the different IA presidents, and the LGU, through Hon. Cresente P. Chavez, Jr., Mayor of the Municipality of Jordan, and Mayor Atty. Paul Vincent dela Cruz of Nueva Valencia.
