August 19-22, 2024 – The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Regional Office VI led by Acting RM Engr, Jonel B. Borres launched the Knowledge Enrichment Caravan, also known as "Pagpamulong-pulong sa Barangay," across the provinces of Antique, Iloilo, and Capiz. This initiative aims to strengthen support for Irrigators’ Associations (IA) by ensuring their members are well-informed about the latest memorandum circulars and policies of the NIA. The NIA VI Institutional Development Section, collaborated with the Provincial Government, Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, Local Government Units, Provincial Health Offices, Rural Health Units, Ramon Maza Sr. Memorial Hospital, Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation, DRRMO, DOH, and Lovefeeds (New Panay Agri-Ventures Dev't., Inc.) to provide valuable services and information to the IA members.
In tandem with the Knowledge Enrichment Caravan, NIA VI also organized a medical and dental mission to assess and promote the well-being of the participants. In Antique, the caravan took place at the District II Covered Gym in Sibalom, where members of the NIA Antique IMO actively participated in both the knowledge sessions and the medical mission. Engr. Bernard N. Castellano, Division Manager of Antique IMO, warmly welcomed the participants and expressed full support for the program. Vice Governor of Antique, Hon. Edgar Denosta, also attended, pledging further assistance through the DOLE Tupad Program and the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS).
The Pagpamulong-pulong sa Barangay continued in Iloilo at the covered gym of Cabugao Norte in Pavia, where IA members gathered for the enrichment activities. The medical and dental mission was again conducted alongside the caravan. To conclude the first leg of the initiative, the NIA VI visited Barangay Pangpang Sur in Mambusao, Capiz. The caravan focused on discussing key memorandum circulars with IA members. Engr. Julieta E. Gallardo, Engineering and Operations Section Chief of Aklan-Capiz IMO, emphasized the crucial role of these activities and information in the daily lives of farmers. The NIA is committed to bettering the lives of farmers and the Pamulong-Pulong is one of the many initiatives of the office for them, consistently devising strategies to uplift and foster knowledge-sharing.
