BAGO RIS - SOUTH DISTRICT WELCOMES HARVEST SEASON OF CY 2022 DRY CROP

The Bago RIS (BRIS) – South District greets 2022 with a bountiful harvest from dry cropping season that started October last year and will end within March of this year. The South District has 22 IAs (covering the municipalities of Valladolid, San Enrique and Pulupandan, and the cities of La Carlota and part of Bago) with a FUSA of 6,142.38 hectares and actual irrigated area of 5,392.29 hectares for this season.

ANTIQUE IMO CONDUCTS ORIENTATION ON CIS DEVOLUTION TO LGUS IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF SAN REMIGIO

Executive Order No. 138 s. 2021 emphasizes the devolution of specific functions, services, and facilities of the National Government Agencies (NGAs) to Local Government Units not later than the end of FY 2024. These functions shall include those devolved responsibilities indicated in section 17 of RA 7160 and Section 31 of RA 8435.

A Series of activities will be conducted prior to the full devolution of the Communal Irrigation Systems (CISs) in 2024. As such, Orientations on CIS Devolution to LGUs were conducted to discuss NIA’s Devolution Transition Plan (DTP).

BAGO RIS CONDUCTS ANNUAL SYSTEM CLEAN UP AND CLOSING OF GATES

The Negros Occidental Irrigation Management Office led by its Division Manager, Engr. Isaias C. Melendez and the Bago RIS Federation of Irrigator’s Associations led by its President, Mr. Jimmy Guzon conducted annual clean up and closing of gates for the South District of Bago River Irrigation System (BRIS) These annual activities mark the end of Water delivery for south district of BRIS and concentrate water delivery in the North District which is scheduled for 3rd cropping this year with a programmed area of 5,884.43 hectares.

PURPLE TUESDAYS AT NOIMO START TODAY

The Negros Occidental Irrigation Management Office (NOIMO) joins the National Women’s Month Celebration with the Theme: “We Make Change Work for Women” and Sub-theme “Agenda ng Kababaihan, Tungo sa Kaunlaran”.

The celebration is in recognition of women’s role and contribution in Nation Building and as agents for national development. NOIMO employees wear purple on all Tuesdays of March to signify support to women empowerment and gender equality.

AKLAN FARMERS RECEIVE SOLAR POWERED IRRIGATION PROJECT

The National Irrigation Administration Aklan-Capiz Irrigation Management Office (ACIMO), through the management of ACIMO Division Manager Engr. Lorena B. Sioco, turned over Solar Powered Pump Irrigation System to Morales Irrigators Association on February 24, 2022 at Brgy. Morales, Balete, Aklan. The project was under Morales Ram Pump Establishment of Groundwater Pump Irrigation Project (EGPIP).

PR TEAM STRATEGIC PLANNING WORKSHOP

In order to set clear goals and align Public Relations activities with the vision, mission, and objectives of the agency, the NIA Region VI Public Relations / Public Affairs and Information Team held a Strategic Planning Workshop as part of the 3-day PR Team Strategic Planning Workshop and Team Building on Feb. 16-18, 2022 at Diversion 21 Hotel, Iloilo City.

Ms. Mona Pico, a faculty member of the University of San Agustin and technical consultant to various multi-sectoral bodies in the local government and national government agencies, served as the Facilitator of the activity.

PUBLIC RELATIONS TEAM BUILDING

The NIA Region VI Public Relations / Public Affairs and Information Team led by the Regional Public Relations Officer, Danielle Pijuan, held a Team Building Activity to foster good working relations, improve work attitudes, enhance values, and form a stronger bond among the team members.

Mr. Harrace Gem Caver, Registered Guidance Counselor from West Visayas State University, Pototan Campus facilitated the activity that was attended by all designated Information Officers from different Irrigation Management Offices (IMO) regionwide.

REVELLAME, SMD PERSONNEL VISIT REGION VI FOR ASSESSMENT AND INVENTORY OF IRRIGATION SYSTEMS

On February 8, 2022, the NIA Central Office Operations Department, headed by Engr. Delsy J. Revellame, together with the Systems Management Division (SMD), conducted a Regional CY 2021 Year-end Assessment and Inventory of Irrigation Systems to Irrigation Management Offices (IMO) in Region VI. The event was held at Adee’s Catering Services Function Hall, Kalibo, Aklan.

Revellame was joined by SMD Division Manager Engr. Eusebio S. Villamanto, Principal Engineer A Engr. Ma. Lourdes J. Garriga, and Supervising Engineer A Engr. Anne Bernice C. Baetiong.
