Construction of Bench Flume of SSJIS is on Track

NIA Antique IMO continues to fast-track construction of 549-m bench flume of Sibalom-San Jose Irrigation System at Sibalom, Antique despite the threat of the Delta Variant in the province. As of August 20, 2021, 300 meters of bench flume was already constructed. This is 70.07% actualbproject accomplishment against the 61.63% target. Construction started on June 9, 2021 and is targeted to be completed on November 5, 2021. Upon completion, 300 farmer beneficiaries of SIHAMSA South (Sibalom-Hamtic-San Jose IA) willbenefit from this project helping provide water to 565 hectares of farmland.

Contract Work Completes 5 Solar Pump Irrigation Projects

The National Irrigation Administration, Iloilo-Guimaras Irrigation Management Office has ten (10) solar pumps projects amounting to 28.6Million allotted for the provinces of Iloilo and Guimaras. These were funded under the Establishment of Ground Pump Irrigation Project or EGPIP. These projects will serve the farmers of the municipalities of Banate, Batad, Dingle, Leon, Miag-ao, Mina, San Miguel, and Sara in the province of Iloilo, and the towns of Nueva Valencia and Sibunag in Guimaras. The remaining five (5) contract works are ongoing.

EPAHP holds Resource Mapping Meeting for the Farmers of Antique IA

NIA Antique IMO personnel and the farmers of San Rafael, Patnongon Communal IA, Inc gathered for a Resource Mapping Meeting under the Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) on August 14, 2021.

EPAHP aims to improve the lives of Filipino people as one of the banner programs of the Inter- Agency Task Force on Zero Hunger, which intends to end hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture in the Philippines.

IA Family Model Farm Project

The NIA, Negros Occidental IMO, represented by Division Manager A, Engr. Isaias C. Melendez and Principal Engineer A, Engr. Ma. Elena T. Basco inked the Memorandum of Agreement on Family Model Farm (Green House Project) with the Federation of Lateral C IAs Bago River Irrigation System (FLCIA-BRIS), Inc. represented by its President, Mr. Ernesto Jacinto.

ASBRIS DAM Repaired

San Miguel, Iloilo – The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) affirmed the reliability of the relocation site for the families affected by Iloilo’s biggest irrigation project.

The affirmation came after the geohazard assessment conducted by the MGB together with the National Irrigation Administration (NIA), proponent of the Jalaur River Multi-Purpose Project Stage II (JRMP II) and the National Housing Authority (NHA) on October 22, 2015. 

MGB: JRMP II relocation is Safe!

NIA, TESDA offer skills training for Jalaur IPs

Calinog, Iloilo – Members of the Indigenous Peoples (IPs) here covered by the Jalaur River Multi-Purpose Project Stage II (JRMP II) availed skills training offered by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). Dubbed Training for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP), it is an entitlement for the affected families ensured through strong partnership with TESDA and with the fervent support of TESDA 6 Regional Director Toni June Tamayo.

CAHIGON IPs receive electrification program

Calinog, Iloilo – Kerosene lamps and torches are now articles of the past for the Indigenous Peoples (IP) families of Barangay Cahigon, this town. What used to be an elusive dream for them in the mountainous area has become a reality when their request for electrification was heed and granted.  60 IP households were initially provided with electricity by the Iloilo II Electric Cooperative (ILECO II) through the Barangay Line Enhancement Program (BLEP).
