NIA Region VI staff join the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Committee – Technical Working Group Meeting regarding Panay River Basin, being led by the Office of Civil Defense Region VI. The meeting discusses topics on the proposed RDRRMC-RDC Resolution regarding the Creation of TWG on the Proposed Dredging Project/Activity, the DENR-6 status of River Basin Committee in the Region, and the status of Panay River Basin Integrated Development Project (PRBIDP) including the resolutions to the higher-ups in support of the project.

Engr. Rebecca F. Grana, Section Head of the Regional Office VI Construction Section; Danielle Pijuan, Public Relations Officer A; Karren Babiera, Sr. IDO; and Kelvin Tacda, Environmental Specialist attend the meeting to represent PRBIDP on behalf of Regional Manager, Rory F. Avance.

NIA Region VI is the proponent of Panay River Basin Integrated Development Project (PRBIDP) located in Tapaz, Capiz. The project has the goal to irrigate approximately 26,000 hectares of farmland in the province of Capiz and Iloilo as well as mitigate inundation in Capiz, which greatly affects the agricultural and socio-economic stability of the province.

Danielle P. Pijuan presented the status of the project, specifically focusing on the status of the Detailed Engineering Design and the status of the issuance of the Certification Precondition from the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP)
