On June 30, 2022, the National Irrigation Administration- Iloilo-Guimaras Irrigation Management Office (NIA-IGIMO) held an inter-agency convergence for the Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) in Iloilo City to help different Irrigators' Associations (IAs) in the establishment of linkages with other agencies in marketing their produce.
The EPAHP is a government initiative to address hunger and poverty through the synergy and convergence of essential services from various agencies that aim to mitigate hunger, ensure food and security, and reduce poverty in urban and rural communities, including marginalized communities. Thru this program, IAs could market their produce to institutions and government agencies thru a Memorandum of Agreement or Marketing Agreement.
At this meeting, partner agencies presented their programs and/or projects in support for the IAs in the form of trainings, financial assistance, access to farm machineries as well as post-harvest facilities. They also presented their needs (demands on products like rice, vegetables, meat and poultry) that the IAs could supply.
The activity was attended by the representatives from the Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Science and technology, National food Authority-Iloilo Branch Office, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Landbank of the Philippines, the Provincial Jail Administrator-Iloilo Province, Department of Agriculture and Department of Social Welfare and Development with the participants from the Federation of IAs in Suague River Irrigation System (RIS), Jalaur Extension RIS, Jalaur Proper RIS, Aganan RIS, Sta.
