NIA and IA Meet for Improvement of Irrigation Services

To provide sufficient and improved irrigation services to the farmers, the National Irrigation Administration Aklan-Capiz Irrigation Management Office (ACIMO), headed by Engr. Lorena B. Sioco, Division Manager A and Irrigators’ Association of Aklan River Irrigation System (RIS) meet for the NIA-IA Operations & Maintenance (O&M) End Season & Planning Conference in November 5, 2021, at ACIMO, Linabuan Sur, Banga, Aklan.

Irrigators’ Association Presidents from East and West Sides of Aklan RIS attended the conference to discuss the current farming status of each IA, Cropping Calendar and Planting Pattern, and

consolidate the O&M data for the coverage of the whole system.

Invited also were the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) Aklan and the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) for their updates on their programs and thrusts, as well as the services the IAs can avail from their respective offices.

Engr. Alexys Apolonio of OPA Aklan presented the Provincial Government’s agricultural status. He gave updates on the province’s Grain Center located at Brgy. Nalook, Kalibo, Aklan, in which the marketing cooperative of the IA’s federation agrees to enter into a marketing agreement concerning the Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) program.

Mr. Ronilo R. Calar of PCIC provided information on different insurance on crops, fisheries, and livestock the IAs can avail. Moreover, he presented the PCIC’s programs for the Dry Crop 2021. Furthermore, issues and concerns of the IAs were addressed for effective and efficient services the agency provides to the farmers.
